If you have been following my blog this far you can obviously tell I love shopping. I will shop for anything and I enjoy shopping for almost everything. The one thing I hate shopping for is textbooks for college classes. They are a need but they are no fun to shop for. So when I do I I look for the cheapest options so I can save as much Money has possible.
Here are my tips to saving the most money when buying textbooks:
- Never buy from the campus bookstore unless it’s the only option. The bookstore is typically the most expensive option.
- Shop around to find the best price. I like to look at chegg and amazon for textbooks. If I need novels for an English class I like to look at Alibris. They sell old library books for really cheap.
- Rent! Don’t buy unless you think you need it.
- Always ask if you really need the access code. Because if you don’t. It will make shopping for these books cheaper
- If you can’t rent buy used. Never by a new book unless it is the only option. The new book is always going to be the most expensive.
- If you are unsure if the textbook is truly needed wait until the first class or until you see the syllabus to decide if you need to buy the book
- Make sure you order with enough time for shipping and if you are order close to the time you arrive at school sent them to your school address.
When ordering your textbook use the booklist provided buy your professor and search using the isbn number to find the best prices. Just copy and paste it into the search bar on each website!
I have been using these tips and tricks the past 3 years working to save me the most money I can. Head over to Shannon’s blog for her textbook shopping tips and tricks. Where do you shop for textbooks, comment below!
