This past weekend I graduate Magna Cum Laude with my Bachelors degree in Health science. It is crazy to believe how fast the 4 years of college go. It doesn’t seem that long ago I was a scared little freshman being dropped off to figure out how to navigate the crazy world of college. Now 4 years later I have taken lots of exams, presented many powerpoint and made some really great friends.
Due to Covid my senior year was completely virtual, I made the decision to stay home and do class from home as well as babysits 3-4 days a week. For me it made the most sense, so I returned to campus for the first time in almost a year last weekend for graduation. I was so excited to see a bunch of my friends and of course graduate.
When I got to campus I met up with a good friend and we went and got my graduation tickets, my graduation champagne glass and toured the new science building. It was unbelievable, I wish it had been there my whole time in school, it would have made the perfect study location. After that the group expanded and we got lunch. We got lunch at Red Leaf, they should have one of these everywhere, it’s a salad place. You make your salads like you make your chipotle bowl. I like to get a chicken Caesar wrap with broccoli. It is so good and definitely one of the things I will miss of Dallas, PA.
After lunch I met up with more friends and we sat in the sun! It was a beautiful day and it was so nice to sit around and chat. Following the time I the sun I had to go get ready for the baccalaureate mass. I wore my Lily Dress and new shoes from target. It was a beautiful mass. Following mass a met up with a group of friends and we went to the local bar. That was a very interesting time, strange group of people. It was a mix of college seniors and townies. Very strange but you can not graduate college with out going to the local college bar!
Saturday morning, graduation day! I had to be up early, we had to check in my 8:20. So my alarm went off at 7:15 since my hair was already done from the night before and since I am lucky enough that my curls and blow outs last a couple day! So all I had to do was touch it up and do my make up. This allowed the early morning to be a little more manageable. Once dressed and ready to go we headed to campus to line up! Graduation was quick and easy, due to COVID the class was split up into three different ceremonies. This was sad because all my friends were not together but made the reading of names go faster since there was not as many.
At graduation we had to walk down lots stairs and up and down a ramp on to stage. I was a little nervous about tripping. Luckily that did not happen. Following graduation I met up with all my friends and we took pictures. Then we got my dad’s favorite sandwich in Dallas, PA and some donuts before heading home.
Once home my aunt and uncle surprised me with a party. All my dad’s siblings got together at my Aunt and Uncles house down the street and surprised me. I thought I was just going to meet up with my cousin James for some Ice cream and then they were all in the yard and yelled surprise. (expect my parents missed the surprise) It was such a special surprise and it was the first Magrini Family Party since COVID. It was a great way to celebrate something I worked for 4 years for.
Now what? I graduated with my bachelors degree but I am not done with Misericordia just yet, I have one more year. I went from high school into a 5 year Speech Language Pathology program where I will earn my bachelors degree and Masters within the 5 years. So even though I graduated last Saturday I start class back up this Saturday. The month of June will be a little crazy but its over June 30, then I can enjoy the summer. With in this last year of school I will work as an SLP in a school and hospital learning all I can before I get a job in the real world! Until then I will be a blogging SLP Student!
