When I was a sophomore in High school my family took a trip to Florida for spring break. One afternoon when we were sitting my the pool I kept pointing out what brand peoples clothes were from. One lady walked by in a pair of J Crew shorts and another in a Vineyard Vines dress. Since that trip I have been thinking about starting a blog but it was not until last summer that I final decided to go for it and start my own blog. When I told my friends they loved the idea and could not wait to follow along.
Last summer when I started my blog I need to think of a name, which was definitely one of the hardest parts. My mom and friends helped me come up with suggestions as to what I should call my blog. We thought about past nicknames people have called such as Emily blue and Em. I finally settled with EM by the Sea because EM is both a nickname for Emily and my initials. The “by the sea” came from the name of the town I live in. The other reason is the beach is a major part of my life and I really wanted to include that in the blog name. So with those two idea the name EM by the Sea was born.
Before I even came up with my blog name I knew my blog would be about clothes, shopping, travel and my life. I consider my personal style is to preppy and classic. My favorite places to shop are J Crew, Vineyard Vines, Nordstrom, and Lilly Pulitzer but honestly I will shop any where I find a cute piece. So EM by the Sea will be all about my outfits and how I use them in all aspects of my life.
Now you know why I start this blog, I am going to tell you all about me! I come from a small beach town in NJ where everyone knows everyone. In this small beach town both my parents grew up with their family. My dad is one of eight siblings and my mom is one of four girls, giving me a great big family. I grew up with my brother who is two years younger and so many cousins who live locally. I went to the local elementary school and high school before going on to college at Misericordia University. I am going to be a senior in college in the fall, year 4 of a 5 year Speech Language Pathology program. At school I work for my professor on Speech Pathology textbooks coming out early next year!
This blog will be all about my life and my style. I hope you follow along as I use clothes and style to enhance my life and hopefully inspire others to enjoy using clothes and person style to make live a little more exciting!
